Residential Care can sometimes seem intricate

The pricing includes a Basic Daily Fee, a Comfort Package Daily Fee, and, if applicable, an accommodation payment and means-tested care fee.
We’ve detailed explanations to assist you in estimating your fees. However, if you require additional assistance, please reach out to our Customer Service Centre, where one of our experienced team members will be delighted to assist you.

Basic Daily Fee

Basic Daily Bed Fee – $63.57 per day (The DBF is set by the Australian Government. Increased twice annually 20 March and 20 September)

The Basic Daily Fee includes essential living costs such as meals, electricity, and laundry services. Set by the government, it equals 85% of the full pension. For some individuals, this fee may be the only one required.

Means-Tested Care Fee

This represents an extra payment towards the care expenses that certain individuals may need to cover. The fee is assessed by Services Australia and is dependent on the resident’s income and asset levels.

A means-tested fee is an amount you may be asked to pay in addition to your basic daily bed fee. The amount of means-tested fee you may be asked to pay depends on the amount of assessable income and assets you have above a certain level. Means-tested fees are calculated by Centrelink, however, you can access a Means Tested Fee calculator on My Aged Care and this will help you to establish your financial position and provide the necessary information to Aged Care Providers.

The Accommodation Payment

This pertains to your housing within the care facility. Some individuals may have their housing expenses covered fully or partially by the Australian Government, while others will be responsible for the housing payment. Services Australia (Centrelink) will inform you which fee applies to you based on an evaluation of your income and assets. Depending on your financial circumstances, you may be required to pay the entire Refundable. Accommodation Deposit (RAD) or a portion of it, known as a Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC).

Alternatively, instead of paying the RAD or RAC, you have the option to pay the interest charged by Salter Point Aged Care Facility on the RAD or RAC. This interest payment is referred to as the Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or the Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC).

Another option is to pay a portion of the RAD or RAC and cover the interest on the remaining balance as a DAP or DAC.
